On Friday I went to Animal Traffic on Mississippi with Robert and Shelley to find some long-sleeved Pendletons for great Robert. What I found instead was a World War II American 4 Pocket Jacket with an Army Air Force patch on the shoulder and an Armament Specialist patch on the lower right sleeve. It looks lovely.
I’ve looked around a lot, here here and here, and it’s possible I should be calling it a tunic.

November 8, 2010I just heard it on Poetry Off the Shelf podcast but I can’t find a transcription online so I’ve made one of my own:
I love you as if it’s World War II
And you’ve just been called up
It’s raining hard
And I’m wearing a sensational goodbye hat
